BEHIND THE LENS

In the beginning, my interest in photography started as an undying need to have the "coolest" profile picture on social media.  After awhile, others began to notice and asked if I would take photos for them.  I was reluctant considering had no idea what I was actually doing with a camera. I spent days rummaging through YouTube for "how to" videos on editing, posing, and the fundamentals of picture-taking.  This only led me to a bunch of terminology that I did not understand. By this time, I was determined to learn more, so I enrolled in classes at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Upon graduating, not only did I acquire a Technical Certificate in Studio Photography, but I had also built up all the necessary skills and equipment to start my own studio. Thus, Violet Blue was born.

 

During my time at AI, I had the opportunity to explore many different genres of photography and have found fashion and portraiture to be among my favorites. They allow me to use creativity freely to create striking imagery.

 

In addition to my own business, I have served as an Editorial Photographer for magazines such as Strange Beauty and Beautivation. My skills also transcended into my military career, where I became my unit's public affairs representative (UPAR) and later transferred to another unit to become a print journalist.
